This family-owned company was founded in Lübeck, Germany, in 1889 and has been growing and evolving into an industry leader in innovation and technology over the past five generations. “Technology for Life” is the guiding philosophy. Milestones in Dräger History

1889 – First carbon dioxide pressure regulator, the Lubeca valve

1902 – First anesthetic device in the world, the Roth-Dräger, for oxygen and chloroform

1904 – First reliable mining device allowing continuous operation, the Model 1904/09. Members of mine rescue teams are still called “Draeger men” in the USA.

1907 – First respiration device, the Pulmotor.

1923 – After the First World War, Dräger has to partially convert to the production of substitute goods such as linen, clothing, and curtains

1924 – The Model 1924 mining device with breathing mask replaces helmet respiration

1931 – Oxygen equipment from Dräger on board the first flight into the stratosphere

1937 – The “Dräger tube” marks the beginning of mobile gas detection technology

1947 – In the fight against the effects of polio: The “iron lung”, the first continuous breathing device

1951 – Dräger starts developing incubators

1953 – Dräger starts developing incubators

1958 – Halothane replaces dangerous ether anesthesia. The “Vapor” from Dräger allows anesthetics to be dosed precisely

1982 – A revolution in respiration: First electronic respirator, the EV-A

1989 – Milestones in neonatology: Dräger release the Babylog 8000, a respirator for newborns and infants, to the market

1994 – Interlock, the first electronic immobilizer from Dräger, prevents vehicle use if the breath alcohol concentration is too high

2008 – Dräger DrugTest 5000 – Dräger develops the first drug testing system for saliva samples

2011 – The PulmoVista 500 provides, for the first time, the ability to monitor the distribution of air in the lung directly at the patient’s bedside – at up to 50 images/second

2016 – The synchronously-working heat sources of the IncuWarmers Babyleo TN500 keep the temperature balanced even if the hood is lifted.

2019 – Atlan, a new series of devices: State-of-the-art anesthetics technologies for more patient safety and user-friendliness
